Let me walk out to the morning,
In this day so hampered by clouds,
And find the mouse and cat playing in the barn,
The one, a ducking in and out the other standing still as time, waiting for its passage.
Let me see this new grass growing,
Already deep and wet and showing its colors for us to see, its damp fingers lacing the fence, and walls, and leaving wet images to fade away should the sun ever shine again.
Keep me as this shelter has, for years of time and strife, and beauty of the morning on its roof, made of wool and patched with the metal of the day. Watch the sun break the clouds, and it’s peaceful setting, once again, make it free.
