Four Big Tires

The tractor sits quiet today. The work in the wet fields is done for Friday. Suppertime has come and it is in full swing with a stand of cars taking up as much room as a football field, spread around the silo built for the people, ready for the dining crowd, waiting their place in line.

But the time is not finished, for more days than this, it will have to make the turns, careen the three pond dams attached to one another, climb the steep banks of the grass grown long, and down each one, and prepare the ponds for winter. It's fat tires make it run the slick damp grass, that keep it from being from mired in the wetness, and bring it home to be parked again.

The windmill behind keeps the time, running its circle again and again and again, bringing fresh water to the house, bringing the reality of the farm to the reality of the end of day, and bringing the evening, into night, once again.
