Now I lay me down to sleep. It has been a rough couple of days, or weeks, months, or even years you have managed to get me through, and I am well aware of how it has been; my back aches, my legs are gone, my brow is worn from the sun and I still wish for dry weather and sunshine in the morning.
I pray Dear Lord my soul to keep. As the moonlight dances serenely before my eyes, and my body is laid out in this few moments of finding comfort, and not repining about the woes of the day, but rather thinking of the pleasure afforded us that sleep through the night.
If I should die before I wake, I would just like for you to wake me softly and slowly, let me open my eyes and feel the comfort of being with you, and know the journey we are about to go on, will be in grace and love divine.
I pray dear Lord, my soul to take, and as my hand raises to take your hand, I know that we will walk and not feel tired, I know I’ll see the ones I’ve missed before, I’ll feel the hugs of grandmas and the great big pats on the back from the ones who have gone on, and all our smiles will carry us forward.
