The merciful waters come up from below,
and bubble and rock down the earth,
cutting its width from the soil,
and making its spindly run, down and down, and sharing itself with the world.
Ancients camped round it, filled their bags, canteens, and bathed,
Rose grew up, Saline Creek Courthouse was born, a store, a place of justice,
A dwelling, a place of death, a place of life, returned to the Cherokee,
and brought about to be fine and perfect in the woods.
Walk down the waters run, walk about its heart and soul, as
the underground creek, keeps filling,
and trickling its run.
