Seeing The Cold

Watching out the front-porch door yesterday morning, for just a moment to avoid the penetrating cold, it left one's heart feeling the mix of things that cause anxiety and comfort to come together and make it all right.

That fence looked a little extra bent, with some work to pull it straight in order, the trees look as though they are dead, but the leaves are buried inside and covered from the ice, holding their growth back until the right time. That entry way could use some pavement, but, well, its holding its own. The inside of that header board might likely need a coat or two of paint, but that will be sometime in March.

Oh, and the icicles. They will be gone by the morning or the morning after, yes, they will be gone soon enough. Back inside, where the gas stove is still lit, coffee is hot and warmth can fill the soul.
