Stairs

The empty stairs tell a story. Of time and when and walks above, and broad steps that would hold a couple while holding each other, or five men climbing their way to the top.

In weather nice, it could be a trip, to take with kids running and playing, screams of laughter bouncing off the sides of the buildings and spilling in to the trees above.

On a moonless night, of cold and dampness, only the lights would show the way, for that one person, grasping at the handle, and watching their feet, and garnering all it took to keep from slipping or falling.

In the time of today, there are few, that walk from bottom to the top, no one is there to be seen, no horse and buggy tied up, no dance around the lights, no keeping the night away as they take the easy way up.
