The Car

The tires rolled to a stop with the weight of time and fortune of many years of service, working their way through the rubber and exposing the outside to the inside.

The old Pontiac, "suicide" four-door, still carrying that shining grill running from the road to the top of its hood, has managed to keep its grace and beauty through times rolling forward.

Rust and relaxation have taken its springy ride, the deep call of its motor running has fallen silent, as pieces of the body crumble off as it sits there, dying the slow death and holding those wonderful memories captured inside.

The color of the car was black, now burnished red, its seats were startling gray to torn leather, the dash board simple, and the people it carried have mostly moved on to another life.

All the while, sitting in silent reverence, looking forward, keeping watch and living the life of luxury, if only in memory.
