A lot of things that happened,
Can explain just the date being said,
With fireworks, red, white and blue
Ribbons garnishing the street, the town
Ready for the uproar of ice cream
Watermelon,the bangs and pops of
The small guys rocking the day, and
The big guys preparing the nights
Fare, with sweat on their foreheads,
And safety in mind as they play.
But the Bison eats quietly in the field,
Its head bowed to green grass dinner
Its mind on just one thing as it eats,
Knowing it is there for him, knowing
He is there for us, and easily eating
As the day peaks, quietly, for him.
