The Last Of Summer

When flirting with the last, hot, miserable days of the summer heat, that burn and sizzle and cause your skin to seize and try to keep the light from making a permanent home,

And sweat still fills your eyes and down your shirt, making the day seem to go on forever, and your eyebrows play catch-all to the sunlight, with pieces of you mixed into the capture, just a glance, a quick look up, will show you its radiance.

Crispy, tight and undeniable blues, wrapped around with greens so brilliant to block the sun, and the sun itself losing that yellow glow and becoming a white fire, the one that burns smooth from the inside, and tangles itself through the outside, with the days heat pouring from its consistent color all over.

The night will come sooner now, each day quicker on the clock, look through and see, the last of summer doing its best to ride the idle winds, and wrap itself around you.
