A step out on the porch,
a lean against the wall,
a morning set to grab your heart, and make it real again.
Hear the spring of the door,
stretching out, tone getting higher,
a quick grab of the iron handle, it settles back in place, and click, it’s closed again.
Feel the sun making its curling,
Feel the heat of the day pouring into the siding, the needs painted,
Feel it all, as you lean there, the sun, the day, the niceness of an Oklahoma morning.
