Watching It Work

Steven W Forman (Woody) and I were standing in the center of the Will Rogers Memorial Museum just off from the statue of Will, when the bunch of kids who were in the Heritage Room were released to move on to their next stop of Kids Camp came pouring down the stairs.

There was one boy about 7 or 8, kind of a taller boy was at the top of the stairs, that placed both of his arms and hands up away from his face, bent his knees, pushed himself off of the top of the six steps and launched out and down to the marble floor. He hit with his knees and feet down and took a half roll onto the floor. Kind of a pile of misdirected bones and flesh all piled up and skidding.

Woody and I stood and stared.

He jumped up, shook his head, broke out into the widest grin, raised his hand, and hollered “I did it! I flew, I flew!!!” He then ran off.

Woody and I had a brief discussion on his achievement, debated whether or not he was correct in his reconciliation of the event, and walked off in our own seperate ways. Both of us considered how long we might of laid there had it been us, and went back to where our business led us.
